Today we made our way to Slagelse to Roskilde, ate a typical smorrebrod in an old outdoor quaint cafe and investigated their cathedral and palace. Impressive last images.......

Home again
Cannot believe our excellent adventure is winding home already. We covered many sights, ate Erik's comfort foods and practiced our Danish (Erik has an advantage there). Last night's hotel was pastoral and tonight's is ultra modern, Bella Sky, Scandinavian Cool.... The largest newest hotel in Scandinavia. They were filming a movie with Piper Perabo from Coyote Ugly, called Covert .. Something or other...

Anniversary in Legoland
Where should you go for your 21st anniversary? Legoland in Billund of course. Actually it was amazing! Working trains, cranes, ships, Lego whales breeching, rides, games, cities, so much fun for all ages. They even had a miniature Bergen, the same street Anita and I stayed on when we were there and many sites we recognized in Denmark during our stay. The Starwars exhibits were Made just to impress Rohan.

Oh I have been having so much fun I have not had time to blog
It has been crazy fun as we have wound our way through some of the highlights of Denmark and sampled most of Erik's favorite foods. We have seen Hamlet's castle at Helsingnor and roamed the beaches of the Danish Riviera and tonight we are in Aalborg, famous for its aqvavit. I might have to do this properly after I get home but here are a few pics. Oh and I forgot Hans Christian Andersen's house in Odense... And Skagen where Denmark ends at its northern tip and the waves crash against each other from the North Sea and the Kattegat. Wild!

More Copenhagen
I am in love with this city....
We navigated the S trains, bus, and train system fairly well once we initially got our questions answered. Erik found the Zoo to be what he remembered yet different. He was not disappointed. They are doing something right there as there are so many babies: hippo, giraffes, Siberian tigers... In almost every enclosure was a baby. Great day, great set up which is animal friendly, public viewing friendly and really kid friendly. Then we walked through the park Erik used to walk to work every day and found his old apartment on Pile Alle. A woman, Anastasia, was just exiting to walk her 2 dogs and she walked with us, talked about her apartment and the neighborhood. Had traditional Danish fried fish with beer for supper sitting on Erik's old street outside in the lovely weather. Checked out Carlsburg Brewery and the elephant bridge. Walked back to the S train and stopped for coffees in this hidden little garden restaurant and Erik found a store that sells sausage and cheeses. He picked some spiepolse and esrom up for later. We would have a really stinky hotel room if it were not for ziplock bags and the bar fridge. Oops, bar fridge not working....
View from our Copenhagen Island hotel. The white dot in the water is another swan.
Decided to stay another day in Copenhagen especially since the jazz festival just happens to be on! Nothing could have been more perfect than this! Today we grooved to four great bands as we wandered. Picked up a GPS for the car in the mall next door since it was almost the cost of a new GPS to rent one for a week. Now we have a Europe version.
Explored the other side of the canal in Christianshavn and Christiania. Climbed the tower at the top of Our Savior's Church. 398 stairs... Many of them spiraling outside. This was a challenge for me as I am not the most comfortable with heights, but I did it! What a view! All of Copenhagen at our feet. The windmills, the Christiania Commune, Malmo Sweden, Amager (crap island), Tivoli, Christianborg Palace, Nyhavn and the rest of downtown.
Will give you more tomorrow. Have to tell you especially about Christiania, it was a beautiful hell hole....
Never been anywhere like it before in my life. Also our best Danish meal in Christianshavn.

Copenhagen
Caught a very early flight to Denmark and had a delightful day where Erik reacquainted with sights, sounds, tastes, and memories of 41 years ago. I am so fortunate he could show me his version of Copenhagen. Hit here during jazz festival. Hope to see a little of it.

Sussex
Spent a few wonderful days on the Sussex Downs and places like Rottingdean, Woodingdean, and Peacehaven near Brighton. Walked Brian's golf course on the Downs, walked the route Teresa and I loved but found the shortcut past the chicken farm. Love walking this countryside.
What item is out of place in this photo?
Toured around Brighton, but mostly just really enjoyed reconnecting with Pat and Brian, Jackie, Martin, Liam and Finn, Paul, Lisa, Jasmine and Emily, Karen, Gary, Keira and Jamie and Niall. We had a very special celebration for Niall as he got his law results and scored a First (that's like nailing honors)!
