London

Anita and I spent the last days of our trip together in London. Hotel was right by Victoria Station. really convenient. The first couple of days we took a walking tour of the old city of London. Weather was perfect for it. It was worth the few pounds we paid as we learned very interesting information about the city and got our exercise too. We had a birthday lunch for Anita at the Georgian Court Restaurant at Harrods from Patti and I which we found delectable. Buffet was exquisite with all the British favorites such as roast lamb with mint sauce and roast beef with yorkshires. They had a rollmops herring which was excellent. But the best was the desserts so the diet was ignored (again)....
We used the tube in London well, and found it efficient without getting lost once. Also took a hop on hop off bus tour but traffic was more congested than usual with James street being shut down for a "diversion". So a two hour ride doubled to four hours. Wimbledon was on and that caused London to be even busier with tourists. Cool and windy day.
Anita and I considered trying to get tickets but we both really just laughed about that as we knew the experience would be wasted completely on us. But it made the city exciting. At the Thames Lotus unveiled their Formula One Racer on a red carpet. That was disappointing because we thought the red carpet might be for us?
Jackie, Brian and Pat came to London to visit for the day and we ate a nice lunch at Covent Gardens. Love that square: don't miss it if you go to London. In the evening Keira, Karen. And Gary took the train to Victoria Station and we had a nice walking tour hosted by Gary and great Italian cuisine. Thanks Gary. We even ended up in the little Italian restaurant Phil liked so much! Good bye to Anita....
